Paddle Barron Gorge on Sun 8th August

Paddle organised for whitewater kayaks on afternoon of Sunday 8th August.

Meet at Lake Placid carpark at 1.30pm

Candlelit Dinner - Behana Creek

Welcome back all,

Hopefully we have seen the last of the unseasonal rain. Hence, the candelit dinner is a go-ahead for next Saturday night. So here is basically what you will need to do and bring :

First rule is you have to cook something on site....or be able to re-heat it somehow.
You must be able to at least cook for one or two people
Best if you bring :
Ingredients of what you are going to cook
Maybe a dessert
A folding table and folding chairs
Tableclothes
All types of Candles and Candle holders are accepted....if you have a candlelabra all the better
Eating utensils, plates and cups/wine glasses
Your Cooking utensils
Torch
Sandles or some kind of footwear
Mossie spray
Coffee and ability to cook great coffee
Warm clothing (maybe)
Your hiking gear or swimming gear....however, water will be cold

We will be meeting at 4pm on next Saturday afternoon....please email or contact myself for the meeting place.

So far, participants that intend on attending are :

Flounder, Adro, Flick, Tangles, Anna, Colleen, Greg, plus 4 unconfirmed friends of Colleens. Hope I have not forgot anyone else.

Paddling weekend for 24th - 25th July

Hi all,

Just a reminder for the addicted.....

Paddling weekend (kayaks only going) next weekend for :

Sat 24th : a late Mulgrave run, meet at the gordonvale servo at 1.00pm - Kearney's to Sharkies
Sun 25th : a Barron Gorge run, meet at Lake Placid at 1.30pm

Calendar Activities for July; Aug, and early Sept

Hi All,

Just to let you know of upcoming plans.....

As per the post on 3rd June :

25th July : Canoes and Kayaks on the Upper Mulgrave - usual trip - Kearneys Campground to Sharks Tooth Campground.

This is all depending on how many we get for the canoes, otherwise it will be just a kayaks only trip. If you are interested, please see the contact details below

7th August : Candlelight Dinner on Behana Creek - We have about 10 people who are interested in this already...only need a couple more - capping at 12-13 -

This also depends on tables that we can take. We also need some Candlelabras if people have them. The rule is for this that you take food up there to cook at the site, either that or able to re-heat the meal. You need only to cook for one-two people....as it will then all be placed on the tables as buffet style.

8th August : Kayak Paddle on the Gorge. I will not be hiring out boats for this one. If you wish to come along, please organise with Mark at Adventure Equipment to hire boats and gear. This one is special as I have one of my old friends accompanying us and Anna was on the original Outdoor Rec course that inspired my love of Paddling.

21st-22nd August : Emerald Hike and Camp - This is just to get away for the weekend. If you are interested in this, please let me know. We have 4 people interested in this one. You will require a hiking backpack and decent hiking boots for this.

4th-5th September : Possible Paddling Camping Trip - Another getaway. This is Amatuers weekend, so no-one will be on the rivers....peace and quiet.

This all depends on my sons soccer finals. If Jeremy or Nathan makes Grand Finals this day. This trip will be suspended until next year.

Remember : when hiking or paddling the fabulous natural trails and watercourses of this great country of ours, please leave only footprints in the sand and take nothing away except for photos and memories.
